The 40th session of the ISJ General Course was held in Tokyo from October 21 to November 1, under the joint auspices of the General Insurance Association of Japan (GIAJ) and the Non-Life Insurance Institute of Japan (NLIIJ).
Under the main theme of 'Non-Life Insurance and Risk Management in Japan', the program included lectures by GIAJ member company professionals, Financial Services Agency official, Ministry of Finance official and others, as well as presentations and discussions among 35 participants from 13 Asian regions, 8 of whom from insurance regulatory bodies.
Based on what they learned during the course, the participants, who were divided into four groups, chose a topic and discussed possible solutions together with GIAJ member companies' staff.
The topics discussed included 'improvement of automobile insurance products', 'countermeasures against Nat Cat risk', 'solutions to issues in ISJ participating regions' and 'balanced regulation'.
The four-day, in-depth discussions among participants, who had a variety of backgrounds, helped each participant deepen their understanding of the topic(s).
