GIAJ sends speakers to a seminar for CLMV insurance supervisors

The GIAJ sent speakers to AITRI (ASEAN Insurance Training and Research Institute) / Japan Capacity Building Seminar for CLMV Insurance Supervisors 2014. Based on an agreement concluded on the enhancement of financial cooperation between Malaysia and Japan, the seminar was held under the joint auspices of Bank Negara Malaysia, AITRI, the Ministry of Finance, Japan and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

Speakers selected from the GIAJ, the GIIJ (General Insurance Institute of Japan), Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance and RHB Insurance shared their experiences on insurance fraud, ERM and insurance supervision with a total 16 participants from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV) insurance regulatory bodies. Through market report presentations, participants also shared information on the current circumstances including issues to be addressed within their respective markets.

At the Opening Ceremony, Ms. Junaidah Binti Mohd Said, Deputy Director, Financial Sector Development of Bank Negara Malaysia, and also a graduate of the year 2000 ISJ Advanced Course, gave an address that stressed the importance of the seminar being held at just the right time before ASEAN regional economic integration.
